During their latest trip to Bundaberg in the coastal Wide Bay-Burnett Queensland region, Broncos players Kodi Nikorima and Aaron Whitchurch took time away from their Trial Game preparations against the North Queensland Cowboys to visit fans at the Bundaberg Hospital last weekend.

Nikorima and Whitchurch walked around various wards to spend some quality time with the patients and to wish them well.

One elderly lady was even lucky enough to receive a cheeky kiss from the pair as they passed through her ward.

However, it was patient Owen Harms (pictured) who received the biggest surprise when he awoke to see the pair at the end of his hospital bed.

He is currently recovering from serious surgery for bowel cancer and was overjoyed to meet the players.

“I was thrilled to see them,” Mr Harms said.

“I’m a massive Broncos supporter, so I’m very grateful to be able to see these players before they played.”

Unfortunately, Owen was not well enough to see the pair play against the Cowboys on Saturday night, but they did leave some small gifts to keep by his bedside during his recovery.

Nikorima said it was always uplifting to be able to provide some joy to patients during their treatment.

“To see the smiles on their faces… it gives you such a good feeling to know that you made their day just by saying hello,” said Nikorima.

“I wish everyone the very best with their treatment and it has been amazing meeting the fans out here in Bundaberg.”

Thanks for having us Bundaberg!
