Edwards reflects on Round Two victory

The Dyldam Parramatta Eels have come away with a 20-16 victory over the North Queensland Cowboys at Pirtek Stadium, and Blue and Gold forward Kenny Edwards said that despite the win, the Eels would need to learn from the late try to the Premiers.

The Cowboys crossed the line with a minute to go to bring them within four points and Edwards reflected on the second half saying the Blue and Gold would need to be better.

“At the end there, we have to find ways to put them away better,” Edwards said.

“We came out there with a few errors in the back end of that second half and we just have to be better there.”

“They are the Premiership team and we have to be better than that.”

Edwards was one of the standouts for the Blue and Gold, with the forward pleased to come away with a try in the victory, in front of plenty of his family and friends who had flown in to attend the game.

“Half the crowd is my family. They have flown in from New Zealand, Gold Coast, they have flown from everywhere!” Edwards said.

“My try was actually a move gone wrong. We called a move, it wasn’t on, I tried to call Foz off but I ended up just running on to it and was lucky enough to get over the line in front of the family.”

With the Eels taking on the Bulldogs at ANZ Stadium next Friday night, Edwards was already looking forward to the clash.

“Next week we come up against the Bulldogs, and it will be another big one,” Edwards said.

“We have a lot of new people this year, and our combinations are going to take a while, but with time we can hopefully build something good this year.” He added.
