Eels re-sign young gun trio Written by STAFF WRITERS, February 26, 2016

THE SURGING Eels have been given a boost on the eve of the 2016 season after announcing the re-signing of three of its young stars.

The club has announced that prop Daniel Alvaro, hooker Kaysa Pritchard and 19-year-old Alex Twal.

Alvaro, who burst onto the scene in the back half of last season, reportedly attracted interest from a number of rival clubs but never really had a desire to leave the Eels.

Alvaro and Prtichard have committed to the club until the end of 2018, while Twal has extended his deal until the end of 2017.

“The thing you notice immediately about Daniel, Alex and Kaysa is their attitude and dedication to their training and preparation,” Eels coach Brad Arthur said.

“They’re talented footballers, but they’re also quality people to have around the club, and that’s what we’re looking for. I’m looking forward to seeing them continue to learn from the leaders in the team and progress this season.”

Pritchard, who suffered a pectoral injury last season has recovered and will battle it out with Isaac De Gois and Cameron King for a spot on the Eels bench.

The news is a welcome relief for Eels fans who may have to face the reality that Anthony Watmough has played his last game for the club.

Speculation is rife that Watmough has been struggling with a chronic knee injury which may force him to hang up the boots.
