Field of Dreams | Carers Queensland

Thirty of the North’s unsung heroes will have a special night out when the Cowboys take to the field against the Cronulla Sharks at 1300SMILES Stadium tonight.

With the support of the Cowboys Field of Dreams program and Townsville City Council, the group from Carers Queensland will be special guests at the game in recognition of their tireless efforts in providing unpaid care and support to a family member or friend who has a disability, mental illness, chronic condition, terminal illness or is frail aged.

Carers Queensland is the peak body representing and advocating on behalf of carers throughout Queensland.

“Saturday night is our opportunity to say thank you, courtesy of Townsville City Council and the North Queensland Toyota Cowboys, to those who give so much to their families and our community with a night out to cheer on the Cowboys,” Mayor Jenny Hill said.

Since it began, the Cowboys Field of Dreams program has given over 2,800 special individuals in the community the opportunity to attend a Cowboys game to watch their heroes live in action at 1300SMILES Stadium.

Each game day, one of the Field of Dreams program partners donates 30 home game tickets to a charity in recognition of their valuable contributions to the local community.

"Townsville City Council’s generous support of the program means that everyone attending the game will get to learn about the fantastic role that these carers play in our community,” Cowboys General Manager – Community Fiona Pelling said.
