CRONULLA coach Shane Flanagan says his team’s first-round opponents – premiers North Queensland – are in such good touch they look like they haven’t stopped training and playing since winning last year’s grand final.

Flanagan says the 38-4 win by the Cowboys over Leeds Rhinos in the World Club Challenge was mighty impressive and that the Sharks are under no illusions as to how difficult a challenge it is they face when at Townsville’s 1300SMILES Stadium for the game on Saturday.

“While it was only 4-4 at halftime, I thought it was only going to be a matter of time before the Cowboys clicked into gear,” Flanagan says. “Nothing much has changed from the grand final, they just look like they haven’t stopped playing and training.

“I was really impressed with them and we’re going to have to be on our game when we go up there.”

Cronulla were eliminated from last year’s final series by North Queensland at the semi-final stage. The Cowboys blew the Sharks away 39-0 in Townsville and Flanagan says the loss is “in the back of our minds”.
