How will the ladder look after five rounds? Written by MARTIN LENEHAN, March 3, 2016

WANT to know the NRL ladder will look after the first five rounds?

RLW has dug up the records of all 16 clubs over the first five rounds from 2011-2015 and the findings are astonishing – especially if you’re a fan of the Storm.

From their 25 matches played over the first five rounds 2011-15, Bellyache’s boys have won 20 and lost just five, including going 5-0 to start the season in 2012 and 2013.

The only teams to have knocked off the Storm in the opening five rounds since 2011 are the Cowboys twice (18-17 in round 4 last year and 34-6 in round 3, 2011), Manly (24-22 in round 2 last year), the Bulldogs (40-12 in round 4, 2014) and the Gold Coast (28-26 in round 5, 2014).

And it’s not like the Storm have had easy games to kick off their campaign over the past five years! Among their victims in the two seasons they were unbeaten are five rounds were Souths and the Roosters in 2012 and the Cowboys, Broncos and Bulldogs in 2014.

If the Storm are to continue their amazing run of early-season success then they’ll need to take care of the Dragons, Titans, Warriors, Sharks and Knights over the next month.

You can also expect premiership favourites Brisbane to start fast if the past five years are anything to go by, while the Warriors, Raiders and Sharks could well be languishing come the first weekend in April if the past five years is anything to go by.

Here’s how the ladder would look after round 5 based on total competition points accumulated in rounds 1-5 over the past five years . . .

STORM 40 (20 wins, 5 losses) average: 8 points

Broncos 34 (17-8) ave: 6.8 pts

Bulldogs 28 (14-11) ave: 5.6 pts

Roosters 26 (13-12) ave: 5.2 pts

Sea Eagles 26 (13-12) ave: 5.2 pts

Cowboys 24 (12-13) ave: 4.8 pts

Knights 24 (12-13) ave: 4.8 pts

Tigers 24 (12-13) ave: 4.8 pts

Titans 20 (10-15) ave: 4 pts

Panthers 20 (10-15) ave: 4 pts

Eels 20 (10-15) ave: 4 pts

Warriors 18 (9-16) ave: 3.6 pts
