The St George Illawarra Dragons Junior Representative teams will continue their respective Junior Representative seasons on Saturday.

The St George Dragons Harold Matthews Cup (U16) team will play SWSAS at Kirkham Park, Camden whilst the SG Ball (U18) team will play the West Coast Pirates at Charles Riley Reserve, Perth.

The Dragons Harold Matthews Cup team showed an improved effort two weeks ago with a 20-20 draw with the Illawarra Steelers and are coming off a Round 3 Bye,

“This is a must-win game for us if we’re to give this competition a shake,” said Coach Graeme Wynn.

“I’ll be looking for a continuation of our improved attitude in defence that we displayed against the Steelers, together with consistent ball control.

“If we achieve these goals we’ll give ourselves a shot at the two competition points”.

The Dragons SG Ball team will look to end their winless start to the season in what should be a good bonding experience for the coaching staff and players on the west coast.

“We will be looking for a big improvement in our defence this week,” said Coach Brad Liggins.

“Following a good hit out against the Dragons NYC team last Sunday, we should be primed for a good showing in Perth, but the boys must handle the travel and the different time zone.”

The Illawarra Steelers Harold Matthews Cup (U16) and SG Ball (U18) teams will travel to play the Penrith Panthers at Pepper Stadium, Penrith.

Both teams will also have their hands full when they compete against the traditionally strong Panthers team.

“We’ll get a really good picture of where both our teams sit on Saturday against the Penrith boys,” said Dragons Junior Representative Manager Neil Lovett.

“After two wins and a draw our Steelers Harold Matthews Cup team is unbeaten this year, as is our SG Ball team (3 wins from 3 matches).

“It will be a good gauge of not only each team’s prospects this season, but also of the character of our players who make up these teams”.
