LAST WORD | Nines Co-Captain

LAST WORD | Nines Co-Captain

In managing the workload of his 18-man Nines roster Sharks coach Shane Flanagan kept Luke Lewis on the sidelines for his teams final pool match against the Canberra Raiders.

In a match where the Sharks needed a win or a loss by less than 12 points, it was a calculated gamble by Flanagan to rest his veteran forward and when poor ball control and a couple of cruel bounces saw the Raiders control the match and go on to win, it was unfortunately the end of the road for the Cronulla side in the 2016 Nines.

Lewis was disappointed but still somewhat upbeat in the hours following the loss.

In an interview with Sharks TV Lewis spoke of the positive aspects of the Nines, including the blooding of a handful of newcomers, as well as the bonding experience the weekend has provided.

See what Lewis had to say, with his interview now playing on Sharks TV.
