Levi aims to build momentum

Danny Levi hopes to add to the momentum he built during last season when he returns to the Newcastle Knights’ first grade side in the Club’s Round 2 match.

After notching seven NRL games in 2015, the dynamic hooker aims to provide energy playing off the bench in Saturday’s match against the South Sydney Rabbitohs after recovering from a back injury.

“My back was feeling not too good last week, but I’ve been doing a lot of rehab on it,” he told Knights TV.

“It’s feeling pretty good at the moment.

“It’s good to be back and I’m looking forward to it."

Levi said the Knights’ training sessions this week have focused on improving the team’s execution after falling to the Gold Coast Titans in Round 1.

“We need to know our roles and make sure we get to our spots properly,” he said.

“I’m hoping to have a good game and get out a good little stint and do my job and have no errors.

“Hopefully if I do that, I will play more consistent first grade.”

A major change Levi notes from last year’s side is the number of players, like himself, striving to make a name for themselves in the Club’s top grade.

“There’s a lot of youth in there and that brings a lot to the team,” he said.

“It also brings a bit of inexperience, but as the season goes, I’m sure the boys will go a lot better.”

As far as the opposition goes, Levi is certain his teammates will rally together to combat a strong South Sydney team.

“They have a lot of big boys, with good leg speed,” he said.

“We just have to really aim up in the middle and get to their weak points.

“If we do our jobs right we should be right.”
