THE odds on new Broncos captain Corey Parker becoming the most capped player in NRL history have shortened dramatically.

The 33-year-old was officially unveiled as Brisbane’s skipper for 2016 on Friday morning.

Parker has managed himself in recent years, but has engaged blue-chip manager Isaac Moses to negotiate a deal that will take him beyond 2016.

Parker played the first of his 323 NRL games back in 2001 and there was speculation he may retire at year’s end.

But the veteran wants to play on and will likely overhaul Darren Lockyer’s Broncos and all-time NRL record of 355 games early in the 2017 season.

The Broncos are likely to leave space in their salary cap for Parker to have one last season.

The Maroons and Kangaroos forward continues to excel despite being in the twilight of his stellar 16-year career.

Parker, Moses and Broncos recruitment guru Peter Nolan were all recently spotted at a cafe in Brisbane’s Paddington recently holding preliminary talks about a new deal.
