SOUTH Sydney are set to go into Sunday week’s massive round one grudge match against the Roosters without both Burgess twins.

Tom Burgess picked up an ankle injury in the trial against Gold Coast on Saturday, while brother George is still recovering from his surgery.

The absence of the pair is a massive blow and places huge pressure on prodigal son Sam Burgess in his return to the Bunnies after a year in rugby union.

“My hip is not quite right and I have a week’s suspension to run in any case,” a disappointed George tells RLW.

“And it is a real blow for Tom as he had a big pre-season but got some bad news from the medical staff on his ankle today.”

The Rabbitohs will also be without classy five-eighth Luke Keary – also suspended – with up-and-comer Cody Walker to take his spot.

The Roosters also have their problems, with Mitchell Pearce in rehab overseas and star forwards Jared Waerea-Hargreaves and Boyd Cordner both out injured.
