Roosters in crisis

Roosters in crisis Written by STAFF WRITERS , February 16, 2016

THE INJURY-HIT Roosters are desperately searching for a front-rower before the start of the new season.

With  Jared Waerea-Hargreaves (knee) and Boyd Cordner (pec) set to miss a huge chunk of the early rounds, the Roosters are suddenly short on big men up front.

The club was close to signing Manly prop Brenton Lawrence before Christmas but talks fell through at the last minute.

They also held talks with English ‘love rat’ Brett Ferres.

Cordner has just had surgery on his training injury, while Waerea-Hargreaves’ return from injury is going slower than expected.

“Boyd’s a critical player for us. You can’t replace a player like Boyd, but that’s life,” Robinson told AAP.

“We’ve got to move on and deal with this game (in England) and the start of the season without him.

“As it’s only just happened, we can’t be sure on a (recovery timetable). It depends on how he develops.”

RLW has learned that the Roosters are looking for a big man to hold up the middle in both the NRL and Super League.
