Sleepless Night Key For Kahu

Jordan Kahu’s shock inclusion in last week’s win over the New Zealand Warriors was engineered through one long, sleepless night.

Original reports suggested that the 25-year-old would miss up to a month of football after injuring his quadriceps in the season opener against the Eels.

However eight days later he was back on the field.

Kahu said today the key to his stunning recovery was a stringent treatment plan he adopted straight after the game.

“I stayed up the whole night after the Parramatta game and iced it,” said Kahu, who endured a rough start to his career with continual leg injuries.

“As soon as I did it, I made sure I looked after it.

“I was always keen to get back as quick as possible - I have sat on the sidelines enough.

“It’s a great team to be a part of and I didn’t want to miss out.”

Kahu insisted he had no doubts about taking his place in the side last Friday.

“I spoke to the medical staff and they were confident,” he said.

“I would not have gone into the game if there was any doubt.

“It was a little sore - I am not going to lie - but I got through the game and did my job.”

The Broncos’ round-three match up will be the first against former Brisbane coach Anthony Griffin.

The winger is expecting the Panthers to come out firing at Penrith on Saturday after two close losses in the opening rounds.

“I am happy to see him (Griffin) in the new role at a new club,” he said.

“It is round three and they are going to be better than last week.

“They have a lot of new signings from the off season.

“Every club has their speed demons, we have our own.

“We are going to have to focus on them throughout the week, do some more video and see what they have got. “
