The Secret To Reed's Early Return

JACK Reed will slot back into the NRMA Insurance Broncos’ team after completing an early return from shoulder surgery was confirmed today.

Reed was this afternoon cleared by Broncos’ medical staff to resume his number three jersey after missing just last week’s round-one clash against the Eels.

He will replace Jordan Kahu, who is out for at least two weeks with a quadriceps tear.

Reed has trained hard to make this early return a reality after originally being told he was no chance to take the field until April.

Amazingly, this was his fourth shoulder surgery.

However his experience with the rehabilitation, and some concentration last year on strengthening that area of his physique, has paid dividends.

Broncos’ Performance Manager Jeremy Hickmans today praised Reed’s dedication to the task.

“One of the things it is a reflection of is the extra work he did last year to strengthen his shoulders,” said Broncos’ Hickmans.

“It is fair to say his rehabilitation has been a lot smoother and he has done everything possible with his work ethic to make sure this happened.”

The Broncos have named James Roberts in the other centre position, confident he will be fit to play after being off-loaded from training this week.

On the bench, Joe Boyce has been rewarded for a good pre-season with inclusion in a five-man interchange list.

Boyce, 21, made his NRL debut when the Broncos beat Newcastle without State of Origin representatives last season, and was strong in trials against Queensland Cup clubs Wynnum and Souths-Logan Magpies.
