Second-rower Joe Tapine has been fined for tripping Parramatta forward Kenny Edwards. If he pleads early Tapine will pay $1,100 or if he fights the charge and loses, it will cost him $1500. Either way he is free to play South Sydney on Saturday.

Penrith Panthers

Winger Josh Mansour copped a head knock after colliding with Anthony Don’s knee as the Titans winger was trying to retrieve a Kane Elgey kick. Mansour was taken to hospital to have his left cheekbone X-rayed. Halfback Nathan Cleary told Fox Sports he expected to start running next week, and was hoping for an early return, possibly round 10 or 11. Tyrone Phillips is well ahead of schedule in his return from a pectoral injury but Tyrone May (knee) has been delayed another month.

Sio Siua Taukeiaho’s last-minute scratching came from a contact injury suffered in the Roosters warm-up, though club doctor Ameer Ibrahim confirmed the Tongan international had not suffered a second ACL rupture as first reported elsewhere. The 26-year-old will require further assessment over the weekend after initial scans on his knee proved inconclusive.
