Tyrell Fuimaono comes from a mixed Indigenous and Samoan background and is proud and honoured to wear the Indigenous jersey in Round 17 against the Panthers.
“I’ve got a bit of a mixed background, Indigenous on my mums side and my dad is Samoan so a bit of both,” explained Fuimaono.
“I’m pretty proud to be representing our families and to be able to wear it on our jerseys when we take the field, it’s a massive honour.”
The design means a lot to Fuimaono who says it’s a privilege to wear the jersey and represent not just the players but their communities too.
“Everyone’s individual totems not only represent us but each of the boys own communities and where they are from.
“So it’s a massive privilege that everyone who is going to be watching the game can put a little bit of themselves out on the field and get a little bit of a good feeling inside. I think it’s awesome.”
The Rabbitohs will run out in their Indigenous jersey in Round 17 against the Penrith Panthers at ANZ Stadium.
