Injury has again hit the Titans side with back rower Kevin Proctor failing his fitness test today on that injured groin and skipper Ryan James is hoping that in the coming weeks the side can get some stability.
With Proctor out, there is a chance that Max King will come into the starting side, with James pushing into that back row position. The Bilambil junior wasn’t sure what side he would line up on but is really looking for some structure to be maintained.
“We need some stability,” James said. “Dale (Copley) got injured, Dale came back and with Keegan now out there as well, some stability would be good.
“Hopefully that left edge can build something with Keegan (Hipgrave) and AJ (Brimson) it’s be good.”
Another welcomes addition to the side to face Newcastle is hooker Nathan Peats who James just loves playing alongside. With the La Perouse juniors’ inclusion, it should provide some spark out of dummy-half with Mitch Rein named on the interchange bench.
“Reiny has been going excellent. It’s good to have two decent hookers.
“I’m not sure what minutes they’ll play but they both bring different things.
“Reiny is a runner and puts the passes on the spot whilst Peatsy is the aggressor and calls the shots for us.”
With a 3-7 record in 2018, James knows it’s getting to a stage where winning needs to become a more regular occurrence.
“That’s exactly right,” James said in relation to needing a win.
“It comes to a point where you need to start winning games to make the finals. The next two games going into the bye are really important.
“It’s good that it’s at home and we’re going pretty well here so hopefully we put in a good performance tomorrow against the Knights.”
