The ARL Commission today responded to remarks made by QRL Chairman Mr Bruce Hatcher on constitutional reform.
ARLC Chairman Mr John Grant said: “I empathise with the sentiment Bruce expresses that, as the vote on a new Constitution nears, members are taking a deeper look at what’s being proposed and additional concerns are being raised by some.
“It remains up to members to see if these can be resolved and they can take more time to do so if they choose.
“The AGM timing is only for convenience. Members can call another general meeting at any time in the future to adopt a Constitution they are all happy with.
“As to Bruce’s other comments on the Commission, as Bruce agreed in a conversation today, all sports’ governing bodies have had stakeholders make similar remarks in situations of intense pressure as frustration plays out, with the governing body the focus rightly or wrongly.
“The ARLC Commissioners do not vote on constitutional reform but have encouraged and facilitated the process where they’ve been able, providing independent advice as they should.”
