Following the Captain’s run on Friday afternoon the Newcastle Knights travel to Sydney with 20 men for their Round 2 match against the Rabbitohs.
Young utility forward Bradie Smith has been added to the squad that was named on Tuesday. Able to play anywhere in the forward pack, 104kg Smith did enough in his reserve grade outing against North Sydney last weekend to be named 20th man.
In other news, joint-captain Jeremy Smith told the media that Danny Levi and Lachlan Fitzgibbon – who will be playing their NRL games of 2016 – have trained well this week.
"They’ve trained well all week, so I’m sure they’re looking forward to getting out there and getting their 2016 underway," he said following the Captain’s Run.
"It’s going to be a massive test this weekend, not just for them, but for all of us."
