Late Mail & Casualty Ward: Round 11 – Cartwright reprieve as Proctor out

Here is all the latest team news and injury updates for all 16 Telstra Premiership teams leading into round 11.

Gold Coast Titans v Newcastle Knights, Saturday 3pm at Cbus Super Stadium

Titans: Kevin Proctor has been formally ruled out after failing to overcome a groin strain, which hands a reprieve to Bryce Cartwright. Ryan James has shifted to the back row to allow Max King to start at prop. Nathan Peats is a confirmed starter at hooker, while Cartwright is now on the interchange bench and Kane Elgey was cut from the squad on Friday afternoon.

Knights: Jamie Buhrer has been elevated to the bench in place of veteran forward Chris Heighington. Jack Cogger was cut from Nathan Brown’s squad 24 hours before kick-off.

North Queensland Cowboys v South Sydney Rabbitohs, Saturday 5.30pm at 1300Smiles Stadium

Cowboys: Ben Hampton is battling an ankle injury and could be a late scratching. Jason Taumalolo (ankle) and Matt Scott (shoulder) missed training on Tuesday but coach Paul Green remains confident the pair will play. Shaun Fensom (elbow) could miss anywhere between no weeks to a month, with the courageous forward to be given every chance to prove his fitness.

Rabbitohs: The Rabbitohs have had a steady build-up and are almost certain to be 1-17. Richie Kennar and Roberts Jennings are both at least a week away from returning.

Melbourne Storm v Manly Sea Eagles, Saturday 7.35pm at AAMI Park

Storm: No late changes expected for the Storm with Brandon Smith coming in for the suspended Cameron Smith.

Sea Eagles: Trent Hodkinson is likely to stay on the bench and ease his way into the side as the Sea Eagles look to go back-to-back.

St George Illawarra Dragons v Canberra Raiders, Sunday 2pm at Glen Willow Oval, Mudgee

Dragons: Ben Hunt (cork) and Jack de Belin (hip) both completed training on Thursday. Veteran prop James Graham was not at the WIN Stadium session because of the impending birth of his second child.

Raiders: Blake Austin trained on Thursday morning and is likely to play on Sunday after shaking off an ankle injury.

Cronulla Sharks v Canterbury-Bankstown Bulldogs, Sunday 4.10pm at Southern Cross Group Stadium

Sharks: Paul Gallen trained well this week and is set to return after another week off as a precaution. Luke Lewis (hamstring) won’t return to face the Bulldogs despite being named in Flanagan’s 21-man squad. He trained on his own on Thursday and said he’d be fit to return against Newcastle in round 12. Josh Dugan is also rated unlikely to play this week.

Bulldogs: Raymond Faitala-Mariner is in doubt for Sunday’s clash against the Sharks with an ankle complaint and won’t be risked if he is not 100 per cent.
