Description –

The Roosters have gone down in a nail biter to the Raiders on Saturday afternoon.

It was a sloppy start to the game, with both sides making errors in the opening five minutes.

A mistake from the Raiders would gift the Roosters good field position and Latrell Mitchell capitalised, barging his way over for his first try in the NRL.

The Roosters were gaining plenty of ground in the opening stages and would capitalise on back-to-back penalties to take the two points from right in front.

The Raiders took advantage of an error from Dale Copley to get down the other end of the field and score through former Rooster Sia Soliola.

They looked to go over again in the following set, but it was ruled that Sam Williams was in touch when he put the ball down.

The Roosters replied well though, scoring back-to-back tries through Blake Ferguson and Aidan Guerra to close out the second half.

Josh Papalii capitalised on a loose ball to start the second half when he went over in the corner to bring it to within 6 points.

After giving away a penalty on one end, the Raiders took advantage on the other end again through Papalii, barging his way through the defence.

With the momentum against the Roosters in the second half, Jayden Nikorima would be the spark to get them back into it after sprinting through a hole to score his first try in the NRL.

On the back of a dropped ball from Latrell Mitchell, Jarrod Croker went over on the left edge to level the game with 10 minutes to go.

In the dying minutes of the game, Sam Williams slotted a field goal to down the Roosters 21-20.
