COREY Oates has been pulling a few surprises as he goes back to the future at training.
Oates and his partner Tegan Miles shocked everyone last weekend when they turned their engagement into a wedding celebration.
The pair had gathered their family and friends to signify their engagement but then rolled out the wedding vows to completely surprise the guests.
Broncos’ teammate Matt Gillett was one of only a few who knew what was happening.
“We had a surprise wedding,” he said.
“We were trying to stay away from the traditional thing and neither of us are fans of being in the spotlight.
“It was just going to be an engagement party but it was Tegan’s idea to pull the surprise wedding, and I was all for it.
“It was just a lot more fun, so it was a great night.”
It gave Oates a reprieve from some tough training where he has been once again working as a second rower after three wildly-successful years on the wing.
His position is of course not set for 2018, but he said he was enjoying a change in the style of play required.
“I am sort of trying to get back in there and see if I have still got it,” he said.
“I have been enjoying it a lot.
“We will just see how it goes in the trials.”
