The Gold Coast Titans’ rebuild has taken another vital step with Phil Moss appointed as head of football where he will oversee football operations, including recruitment.
Moss held the same role at the Cronulla Sharks for the past year and had similar positions at the Wests Tigers, Penrith Panthers and the Parramatta Eels over the past 12 years.
The Titans are determined to build a roster that can take them back to finals football for the first time since 2010 and club CEO Graham Annesley said Moss’s appointment would facilitate that aspiration.
“Phil has been around the game for a long time and has a wealth of experience,” Annesley said.
“He will oversee all aspects of our football operations and work closely with head coach Garth Brennan on strategic recruitment and retention as we continue to strengthen our roster.
“We are all very excited about the coming season, and the addition of Phil will only enhance our prospects of future success.”
Since Brennan was appointed coach he has been at the forefront of building the Titans’ playing stocks, bringing the likes of Michael Gordon, Leilani Latu, Brenko Lee and Mitch Rein to the club.
Now he has a right-hand man to assist him in all aspects of football operations, and a familiar face who he has worked with in the past at the Panthers.
Moss said the stars had aligned for him to make the move at a pivotal and exciting time in the Titans’ history.
“With new owners, new coach and an exciting roster, it’s a great time to be joining the Titans,” Moss said.
“I’ve worked previously with Garth Brennan and it’ll be great to renew that relationship.
“I’ve been involved with a few clubs that have gone through a re-building phase and I’m excited about the opportunity at the Titans.”
Moss will start his role on Monday, February 5.
